ISTE Standard/Rationale
Professional Development Plan Template
The Professional Development Year-Long plan created in TEC-595 is designed to support teachers in learning not only about digital tools and technologies, but to help them understand their own teaching styles, and consider student needs when choosing digital tools to incorporate into their learning. The professional development sessions start out small, in working with teachers to understand their own needs, and lead up to learning to incorporate Project-Based Learning into their curriculum.

ISTE Standard: Professional Learning Facilitator

4.5.a: Design professional learning based on needs assessments and frameworks for working with adults to support their cultural, social-emotional and learning needs.

4.5.b: Build the capacity of educators, leaders and instructional teams to put the ISTE Standards into practice by facilitating active learning and providing meaningful feedback.

Rationale

The artifact represents ISTE Standard 5 because it represents the planning is required to produce professional development sessions that are meant to guide educators to greater understanding of technology, but also facilitate their interest and creativity in using digital tools. By building in collaborative, hands-on time with tools and technologies, educators can leave the session with the confidence and understanding to incorporate what they have learned into the classroom to benefit themselves and to also support student improvement.

Artifact #3: Individual Coaching Session Outline
Individual Coaching Session Outline
Description
ISTE Standard/Rationale
Individual Coaching Session Outline
The coaching outline created in TEC–595 shares how a follow-up session with an individual educator might look like after attending a professional development. Some educators need specific supports, and follow-up sessions can be designed to go over all or part of a session and focus on what the educator needs to fully understand and implement what they learned in the initial session.
ISTE Standard: Learning Designer

4.4a: Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery and allow students to demonstrate their competency.

Rationale

The individual coaching session outline represents ISTE Standard 4 in that follow-up sessions focus on purposeful support to support the individual teacher in developing their understanding and use of technologies in the classroom; coaches must be cognizant of the learning needs of the educator, creating opportunities for the educator to learn, but also to support the educator in creating opportunities for their own students to learn more effectively in the classroom.

Artifact #4: PD Session Feedback/Evaluation
PD Session Feedback/Evaluation
Description
ISTE Standard/Rationale
The Feedback/Evaluation form created in TEC-595 models the types of qualitative and quantitative feedback
that coaches need to evaluate and improve their professional development offerings to educators. By providing a through evaluation, educators can share what they appreciate and find worth-while in a session, what they would like to know more about, and share where the coach can improve and/ or develop their professional development offerings.

4.5.c: Evaluate the impact of professional learning and continually make improvements in order to meet the schoolwide vision for using technology for high-impact teaching and learning.

Rationale

The feedback/evaluation form represents ISTE Standard 5 because the form is used to evaluate the effectiveness of professional development sessions, and the information is used to improve future sessions and create follow-up learning opportunities for educators. As a coach, it is imperative to continuously improve professional development offerings so as to reach more educators, and support educators in using technologies effectively in the classroom.
